Experience

Colm is Registered Insolvency Practitioner advising lenders, investors and boards on complex domestic and cross‑border distressed situations, with particular experience across financial services, renewables, trading and asset‑backed structures. 

He has led a wide range of high‑profile engagements across corporate insolvency, court appointments, independent accountant and pre‑lending reviews, informal wind‑downs, debt advisory and turnaround assignments. Colm is regularly appointed to senior officeholder roles and is trusted to manage highly sensitive stakeholder environments involving lenders, shareholders, regulators and courts. 

Colm has significant experience operating and stabilising trading businesses, executing complex asset and investment realisations, and delivering value‑maximising outcomes in distressed situations. His work includes managing multi‑million‑euro retail and asset portfolio sales, overseeing insurance and regulated entity wind‑downs, leading the deleveraging of non‑performing loan portfolios and advising on complex international restructuring strategies.  He regularly leads multi‑jurisdictional engagements, coordinating teams across the Grant Thornton international network to deliver integrated restructuring solutions spanning Ireland, the UK, Europe, the Americas and offshore jurisdictions. 

Sector experiences:

1. Joint Receiver and Manager of certain entities of the WeLink Group, comprising over 30 entities across Ireland, the UK and Italy, with a portfolio of renewable solar and power assets located in Italy.
2. Joint Receiver and Manager of Mainstream Renewable Power Mezzanine Finance DAC, an entity within the Mainstream group, involving operations across Chile, Spain and the United States.
3. Joint Liquidator of Modmo Technologies Limited, an early‑stage electric bike developer, manufacturer and distributor with operations in Ireland, Germany and Vietnam.
4. Lead on the liquidation of Bittrex Global (Bermuda) Limited, an international cryptocurrency exchange.
5. Lead adviser on the examinership of Mainline Power Limited, an electrical engineering group with operations in Ireland, the UK and Sweden.
6. Process Adviser to Neon Agency Limited in connection with its restructuring under the Small Company Administrative Rescue Process (SCARP).
7. Adviser on numerous SCARP engagements, including acting for secured lenders across retail, hospitality, manufacturing, distribution and healthcare sectors.
8. Deleveraging of non‑performing loan portfolios through fixed‑charge receiver platforms on behalf of pillar banks, private equity, credit funds and loan servicers.
9. Design and implementation of a €100m+ social housing aggregation investment strategy on behalf of an international investment bank.
10. Forensic review and investigation of a complex corporate group of over 30 entities, including preparation of expert reports in connection with insolvent trading, breaches of directors’ duties and illegal phoenix activity.
