The Revenue Commissioners recently issued an e-brief publication setting out its procedure for conducting Compliance Interventions remotely. In anticipation of a potential increase in the level of Revenue interventions and audits as a result, we are delighted to facilitate a three webinar series from Grant Thornton and Shannon Chamber on the key considerations and actions for taxpayers in advance of, during and subsequent to a Revenue audit. The series will cover:

Session 1 – Revenue Audit Preparedness

Wednesday, March 31, 11am – 12pm

The first session in the series will provide participants with an overview of the current Revenue audit landscape and Revenue’s possible areas of focus over the next year. It will take participants through their rights and obligations upon receipt of a Revenue audit notification and what they should be doing to prepare for the audit in order to minimise potential tax, interest, penalties and, ultimately, potential publication.

Session 2 – Managing the ongoing Revenue Audit process, and Concluding the audit and managing a Tax Appeal hearing

Wednesday, April 14, 11am – 12pm

Session 2 of the series will cover the day of the audit and what to expect. It will also cover the types of issues that can arise and what a taxpayer can expect in terms of audit duration. This session will also cover the new “remote” audit landscape and the recent Revenue e-brief.

It will address the typical Revenue audit closure process and will also include insights into preparing for, and undertaking an appeal at the Tax Appeals Commission, with key insights and observations from one of the leading barristers in the Tax Appeal Commission process, Frank Mitchell SC.
