Chicago and Dublin, 29 June 2026 – The Grant Thornton Advisors multinational platform has announced two senior appointments to its EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) leadership team, further strengthening its ability to scale a connected and aligned platform across the region.
David Leal Alonso has been appointed Head of Strategy and Operations, EMEA, and Trevor McCarron has been appointed Chief Financial Officer, EMEA.
These appointments come at a time of rapid expansion and increasing alignment across EMEA, as the Grant Thornton Advisors multinational platform continues to grow across priority markets and enhance its ability to deliver connected, cross-border services to clients.
David joins the firm from Citadel Securities, where he served four years as Vice President in the Office of the Chief Operating Officer in New York. Prior to this, he spent over four years with McKinsey & Company in Spain and the US, advising clients on strategy and organisational transformation across a range of sectors. Based in Madrid, David’s role will focus on shaping the strategic direction for the region and ensuring its effective delivery through aligned customer-focused execution and coordination across platform firms. He brings significant experience in global operating models and complex organisational environments.
Trevor’s appointment as EMEA Chief Financial Officer represents an expansion of his current role as Chief Financial Officer of the Irish firm, which he will continue to hold. Trevor joined Grant Thornton in 2017 and was appointed Partner in 2023, playing a central role in driving the firm’s financial performance and operational discipline. With over 20 years’ experience in senior finance leadership roles, primarily within professional services, Trevor brings deep expertise in financial strategy, performance management and governance. In his expanded role, he will drive greater financial consistency and transparency across the EMEA platform, supporting disciplined growth, investment and the continued development of a streamlined, high-performing finance function.
Commenting on the appointments, Steve Tennant, Managing Partner, Grant Thornton Ireland and EMEA CEO of the Grant Thornton Advisors platform, said:
“Strengthening our EMEA leadership is an important step as we continue to scale a more connected and aligned platform across the region.
