Unquestionably, the social aspect of Grant Thornton is what separates us from most other firms. From departmental wide summer and Christmas parties to free beers every Friday in the canteen, weekly coffee catch-ups and Pride celebrations, there is a vibrant social scene.
A social tradition I have with my colleagues is most Thursdays we end up going out for food and a few drinks to celebrate the near end of the week. The open floor plan in the Grant Thornton offices certainly adds to the social life here. Thanks to this, there is always constant chatter amongst peers, whether it is about work, the weekend or even a big event coming up. The best part is that these conversations happen between all staff members regardless of their level, from trainee up to partner.
There are loads of societies and committees, fun leagues and sporting events that are ran within the firm and offer great social scenes for everyone. Examples that come to mind would be the five-a-side game held every Tuesday, the tag rugby competition, book clubs and the annual GT 5K competition held virtually and in person.
With each department having their own designated social committee to organise events for everyone, there is no doubt that the social life is at the forefront of Grant Thornton.
