Exchequer returns April 2016 - Peter Vale commentary

Peter Vale Peter Vale

No news is good news as the end-April 2016 Exchequer Returns provided another strong set of tax figures for the incoming minority government. Employment growth and increased disposable incomes continue to fuel consumer spending, with the surge in tax receipts bringing us towards heights not seen since 2007.

While the Irish economy continues to be hugely susceptible to global economic shocks, there is nothing to suggest these tax figures are not sustainable. In fact, global tax changes can play into Ireland’s hands in the coming years.
