Michael Neary

Experience

Michael is a partner in our Deal Advisory team and leads our Valuation Advisory practice in Ireland. He joined Grant Thornton in 2001 and has over 25 years M&A advisory and private equity experience. He specialises in advising entrepreneurs and corporates on both buy-side and sell-side transactions, including trade-sales, mergers, MBO’s and fund raisings.

He has been the lead advisor for a number of the firms largest sale mandates and complex vendor due diligence projects. Michael’s extensive experience has enabled him to represent corporates in a wide range of sectors including Renewables, Wholesale, Manufacturing, Technology and Healthcare. He is a member of the Grant Thornton International M&A Committee and the Grant Thornton International Valuation Steering Group.

He has also acted as Monitoring Trustee for the European Commission and the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.

M&A experience

  • Advisor to shareholder of Vita Actives on the transaction with Dairygold Co-Operative Society Limited;
  • Advisor to the shareholders on the sale of Odyssey VC to ATS Corporation;
  • Advisor to the shareholders on the sale of U-Store-It to Heitman LLC;
  • Advisor to the shareholders on the sale of Tailored Finance to NFP Ireland;
  • Advisor to the shareholders of Castlebridge Nursing Home on the sale to Evergreen Care; and
  • Advisor to NAMA on the sale of the Poolbeg development.

Valuation / Transaction Advisory experience

  • Valuation advice in respect of the flotation of BioPharma Credit Plc on the London Stock Exchange (Gross Asset Value $750m);
  • Valuation advice in respect of a €10bn intellectual property (IP) valuations, for a global multinational in the technology and medical devices industries;
  • Valuation advice in relation to multiple Solar, Wind Farm and Infrastructure projects;
  • Multiple buy side and sell side due diligence assignments for private equity houses and SME debt funds including, MML Growth Capital, H2 Equity, Renatus Capital Partners, Broadlake and Muzinich; and
  • Multiple buy side and sell side due diligence assignments for corporates including Vodafone plc, UDG, and Damovo.
Qualifications
  • Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI)
  • Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) from the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG)
