Cristina is a Director in the Financial Accounting and Advisory Services (FAAS) Group at Grant Thornton, a service line that provides accounting and advisory services to both audit and non-audit clients.
With over 10 years of professional services experience in Big Four in Ireland and Portugal, she specialises in the provision of compliance and audit services to clients across multiple industry sectors and jurisdictions.
Cristina specialises in the provision and coordination of global statutory compliance and audit services to large MNCs/ global SSCs across EMEA, LATAM and APAC regions, as well as to fast-growing indigenous businesses expanding internationally. She has vast experience in IFRS, Irish/UK GAAP and US GAAP across a variety of sectors including; technology, pharmaceutical, telecommunications, FMCG, utilities, arlines, employment solutions and professional services.
Sector Experience
Her expertise ranges from preparation/review of bridge trial balances from group to local GAAP and multi-jurisdictional statutory financial statements to coordination of direct and indirect tax services, secondary ledgers compliance and statistical returns preparation and filing across multiple jurisdictions.
Cristina has managed multiple international projects, including leading the preparation of 65+ entities financial statements, onboarding 10+ international jurisdictions statutory audits to be centrally coordinated from Ireland through a single point of contact and leading the transition of local statutory compliance services including bookkeeping, financial statements preparation and tax compliance in LATAM, APAC and EMEA regions. Management of these projects entailed leading international teams to ensure all targets were met with regards to quality and timeliness of deliverables in a seamless process.
She has provided accounting and financial reporting advice on a number of complex transactions, including revenue recognition, debt and shareholder financed acquisitions with deferred and contingent considerations, group restructurings, group consolidation in period of acquisition and dissolution of 10+ entities, valuation of intangibles, closure of multi-employer defined benefit pension scheme, modification accounting of share based payments and cashflow hedging.
As a Portuguese native Cristina is a fluent Portuguese speaker and familiar with many aspects of Portuguese accounting and laws.
