The growth and evolution of the Irish film industry over the last quarter of a century has been little short of remarkable. Everyone wins when a Star Wars comes to Ireland. The producers gain through a fabulous location, a world class local talent pool and an incentive scheme acknowledged as the best in Europe. If you put together a checklist of the things a film producer is looking for in a location Ireland appears to have them all in quite some abundance.
The value to the country of major Hollywood film and TV productions is almost beyond imagining if we can attract them to come here. With expenditure on each project running to at least tens of millions of euro the boost it could give to the creative sector here as well as to the wider economy would be enormous.
