Aer Lingus

Aer Lingus, SIPTU
Grant Thornton Forensic and Investigation Services was appointed by the Department of the Taoiseach on behalf of the National Implementation Body to support the Labour Relations Commission in its conciliation of an industrial relations dispute involving Aer Lingus, SIPTU, and other unions in February 2008. Our work involved analysis of financial projections, data modelling, and other accountancy aspects of assessing projected cost savings.

Aer Lingus invites SIPTU to talks
"Aer Lingus has invited SIPTU for high level talks tomorrow at an off-site location. The airline describes the talks as a final opportunity to resolve the outstanding issues between them and to reach agreement. The airline says these talks will be supported by Grant Thornton, the forensic accountants that have been assisting the parties in calculating the implications of cost cutting proposals.” (RTÉ Television News, 21 February 2008)

Aer Lingus and SIPTU reach deal to avert disruption
"A threatened disruption to Aer Lingus flights, which could have affected up to 20,000 passengers from today, has been averted following a deal reached between management and the trade union SIPTU last night. The deal was reached last night after more than 30 hours of talks at a hotel in North Dublin. The negotiations were chaired by the director of conciliation at the Labour Relations Commission Kevin Foley and assisted by a firm of forensic accountants, Grant Thornton.”
