The problem
In this simple case, we were asked to identify how some highly sensitive personnel files relating to some of our client’s employees had fallen into the hands of their opponents in an ongoing legal case.
The solution
We quickly identified that an office administrator had e-mailed the files in question to her web-mail account. Analysis of the administrator’s computer revealed that she was in a personal relationship with an individual employed by the counterparties to the case. The theft of the data was reported to the Judge and to the Data Protection Commissioner. We were able to complete this investigation for our client in under three days.
