Theft of intellectual property

Theft of intellectual property is at epidemic levels in Ireland. Computer forensics is the only way to prove it has been done, and to stop the thieves in their tracks.

The problem
Our client, a small financial services company, suspected that one of their senior employees was about to leave to set up on his own, in competition to them. They were very concerned that he would try to remove a copy of the company’s client database.

The solution
We discreetly analysed the individual’s laptop computer. Findings on the laptop, correlated with file access timestamps on the company’s files server computer demonstrated that the individual had made copies of the client database and a number of other key documents to a USB thumb drive. Using these devices leaves traces that can be identified through computer forensics. Our clients were able to take immediate legal action to prevent their data being used against them.
