Experience
Sheila is responsible for Grant Thornton's
Regulatory Advisory Services division, providing services which focus on corporate governance, compliance, internal audit functions, AML frameworks and compliance training.

Having worked in the financial services industry for over 20 years she has experience in banking, corporate finance and private equity in London and the stock-broking community in Ireland. Sheila has a broad knowledge of the international, EU and national regulatory frameworks and experience in investment banking, the IFSC, the Irish Stock Exchange and the Central Bank. During 2010 and 2011 Sheila was seconded to the Central Bank of Ireland (the ‘Central Bank’) where she led a special inspection and supervision project.

Sheila joined Grant Thornton in 2002 and was admitted to the partnership in 2004. Sheila was responsible for the Investment Funds and Structured Products division of Grant Thornton from 2004 to 2010. Previously Sheila was Director of Investment Funds and Structured Products at NCB Stockbrokers from 1997 to 2002. Sheila was also partner responsible for Marketing and Communications between 2008 and 2010.

Sector experience
Starting her career as a banking analyst in London, she then joined the corporate finance division of a major US insurer as an Associate, working on senior debt, mezzanine finance and private equity transactions. She has experience of a diverse range of Irish Stock Exchange listing transactions, including hedge funds, private equity funds and asset securitization deals. She had responsibility for business development and relationship management of a portfolio of investment banking and asset management relationships.  

Professional qualifications and memberships
Sheila is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin where she obtained a LL.B, and is business graduate from University College Dublin (UCD) where she obtained a DBS. She is an associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Ireland (ACIB).
