Experience
Gearoid joined Grant Thornton in 1995 as a partner, having previously worked at partner level with a Big4 firm.
Sector experience
As corporate services partner with Grant Thornton in Limerick, Gearoid heads up the Corporate Recovery department and is responsible for providing advice on company valuations, restructuring, litigation support, forensic accounting, financial workouts and buying and selling businesses.
Gearoid has considerable experience of property based investment projects. He has a close involvement with the tourism industry and has been an advisor to many holiday homes and hotel projects. Gearoid was engagement partner for “Limerick 2005” – a strategic plan for the promotion of Limerick.
Gearoid also has extensive knowledge of the credit union sector, having acted as auditor and advisor to several of Ireland’s largest credit unions.
Professional affiliations and memberships
Gearoid is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in Ireland (ACCA) and is also a former Irish president of the association. Gearoid is also a Bachelor of Law (LLB) graduate from the University of Limerick (UL).
