Experience
Before joining Grant Thornton’s Public Interest Entity group in 2008, Stephen spent ten years with a Big Four firm in Dublin. He has provided assurance and technical accounting advisory services to numerous Irish and multi-national companies and groups. Stephen was appointed to the partnership in 2011.
Sector Experience
Stephen has worked with clients, generating revenues in excess of €1 billion, across a wide range of business sectors including telecommunications, technology, biotechnology, construction, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and distribution.
He has provided a broad array of services including audits of SEC registrants and internal controls over financial reporting (Sarbanes Oxley), statutory audits, technical accounting support and advice. He also has significant experience in providing financial due diligence services to a number of prolific private equity and venture capital firms, as well as a major UK government body.
Stephen has in-depth knowledge of Irish/UK GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and also has significant experience of US GAAP.
He has participated for several years in the assessment of public company consolidated financial statements as part of the Published Accounts Awards programme organised by the Leinster Society of Chartered Accountants.
Professional qualifications and memberships
Stephen is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and is a member of the Association’s Leinster Members Network panel.
He has a significant role in Grant Thornton Ireland’s International Business Centre (IBC). He has worked extensively with IBC directors across the firm’s global network to ensure that our multi-national clients receive a seamless, cohesive and professional service.
