Public interest entities
Public listed companies, multinationals and large private companies need advisors they can trust and depend on. Our public interest entity (PI) team understand the challenges faced by these groups.

A typical public interest entity (PI) client of this firm is quoted on the Irish, London or a North American Stock Exchange and has significant interests in Ireland, the UK and around the world. Also serviced by PI are larger privately held businesses and some companies with overseas operations. A number of such clients aspire to the same standards as publicly held entities, with their own audit committees and internal audit function. We consider that clients that aspire to such standards deserve the attention of staff with the requisite skills and experience required to handle the complex needs of public limited companies. Our public interest audit specialists combine broad technical experience of IFRS, US GAAP, Irish and UK GAAP. As members of the specialist PI team they also have a broad knowledge of corporate governance, excellent business expertise and an ability to identify additional practical solutions for clients.

Key to the success of Grant Thornton is our close involvement with fellow member firms, who serve as primary auditors for over 1,500 publicly listed companies. As we continue to acquire larger and more complex clients with significant international business, the Grant Thornton International network with access to 2,600 partners and 29,000 staff becomes an increasingly potent factor in our ability to deliver a high quality consistent service to our clients.

In the last year we have been appointed auditors to two additional listed company clients: Trinity Biotech Plc, which is listed on the NASDAQ and CryptoLogic Limited which is listed on the Toronto and London Stock Exchanges and also on NASDAQ.
